Is it going to snow!?

April 11, 2009 odiesroadies Leave a comment

Jim says no – it’s much too warm (44) – but you couldn’t prove that by me.  I had to dig out the ski parka and wool hat before I could take Odie for a walk this morning!

We’re in Belen, NM – just south of Albuquerque.  We’re parked in the back yard of our good friend Joline.

It was quite a beautiful drive getting here. From where we were by White Sands … you go north and you cross the Black lava flows of the Valley of Fires.  Makes for an interesting satellite photo.  The pushpin marks the place where we drove across the Valley of Fires.  Click on the pushpin and you’ll be able to see more.

We had to make one stop for Jim to do his work! In our little computer tutorial video business, my job is to make the videos – his job is fulfillment.

Odie is not a fan of this area though because of the sandburs … he is such a delicate flower!  I gotta admit, I sure couldn’t walk barefoot around here.

We’re here till Tuesday, preparing for The Rally.  We’ll be giving 4 seminars there:

  4. Managing Digital Photos w Picasa: Mon 04/20/2009
    10:30 – 12 Seminar Room E

Sideways Rain

March 27, 2009 odiesroadies Leave a comment

If last night’s weather is at all typical of this region, it’s no wonder that Louisiana is called ‘America’s Wetland’!  We have only experienced a night like that when we stayed in the RV thru hurricane Katrina in Fort Lauderdale.  We’re in a town called Gonzales, just south of Baton Rouge.  We’re here to give our seminars at the Holiday Rambler rally. Here’s a map of where we are.

We had the kind of rain, wind, lightning and thunder that wakes you up … and keeps you up.  Jim even felt the need to get up and look around – he found that the sideways rain hitting the coach found some places to get in.  There was a puddle on the floor by his desk and water dripping from the light fixtures above.  yuk.

He check the weather alert service on his cell phone and read that our area had over 1,000 lightning strikes within the last 5 minutes!  The thunder made us hug each other and say ‘I love you’ … just in case that wasn’t thunder but the sound of an oncoming tornado.

whew … all is quiet this morning.

Off to Orlando Thousand Trails

Oh Boy! The wheels are getting ready to roll. We’re booked to do a couple of seminars at Thousand Trails, Orlando tomorrow and Monday. See our schedule for details.

I know I haven’t written much, but the only thing I have to say about this week is going to the dentist. Actually, that was very good though! At first they said I needed a root canal. When I went to the dentist – they changed their mind! yee ha!

Happy Father’s Day

This goes out to all the fathers in the blogosphere. HFD.

I got a call this morning from Devon, wishing me a Happy Father’s Day and I had to think a moment to realize I needed to wish him the same!

Here are the fathers and sons in my family.

I called my dad to wish him HFD. He’s the best. I love you, dad.

I got another call a few minutes ago from Lacie wishing me HFD. That was special, too.

A special wish to Tom Van for a HFD. They just changed phone #s and we don’t have it yet. (wonder if that is intentional?)

Enjoy the day!

Lobster Fest

April 13, 2008 odiesroadies Leave a comment

Chris and her Mom are in St. Pete for a conference, so it is up to me to do the fun stuff.
Dr. Ray has a party this time every year. Ray is an Icon in the diving community and the guest list is a veritable who’s-who of South Florida divers. We’ve known Dr. Ray for many years because of our membership in the USA Dive Club.
The main dish is lobster, of course. Pork Bar-B-Que, Stuffed Shells, Lasagne, salads and more are on the menu. Not to mention the desserts. Yummm.
The best thing is getting together with folks young and older, who we have known for quite a while.
Thanks, all.
